Virgin Islands, British

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is a British Overseas Territory located in the Caribbean Sea, east of Puerto Rico. It is made up of around 60 islands and cays, the largest of which are Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke. The total population is around 30,000 people. The capital is Road Town and the official language is English.

The BVI has a long history of human habitation, with evidence of indigenous peoples dating back to around 1500 BC. The islands were later claimed by Spain and the Netherlands, before being settled by the British in the 17th century.

The economy of the BVI is largely based on tourism, which is a significant source of revenue for the territory. The islands are also a popular destination for cruise ships. Other industries include financial services, construction and real estate.

The culture of the BVI is a mix of African, European, and Caribbean influences. The islands are known for their beautiful beaches, clear waters, and tropical climate. The people of the BVI have a strong sense of community, and traditional practices and customs continue to be passed down through generations. The BVI is also known for its music, arts, festivals and Caribbean cuisine.
